The Marias Medical Center laboratory has two and a half full time technologists providing 24/7, 365 days a year service. The laboratory is a full service lab performing testing in bacteriology, urology, chemistry, hematology, serology and blood banking. The chemistry department uses a Dimension Expand as their main analyzer and a Nova 16 as backup. All analyzers are interfaced to a Fletcher Flora Lab Pak II Laboratory Information System. In hematology the workhorse is a CELL-DYNE 3200. An Amelung KCIA instrument is used for coagulation and a mini-ves for ESR’s round out our automation. In blood banking, we mix manual methods with a Sorvall cell-washer 2. Fisher Scientific blood bank and freezer recorder and alarm system are in place. A Fisher Scientific dry water bath is utilized in blood banking. We also use a Class II Biological safety cabinet, and in bacteriology, a manual micro-scan product is used for identification of gram positive and gram negative organisms as well as for MIC’s. |
